It is generally accepted that eating at your computer is a really bad idea. Especially over the keyboard. Yet everybody does it! Who doesn't like a cup of tea on their desk? A little cookie with their news? A little breakfast in their nook?

Just now, I was eating a bit of late night toast and dropped the bread. Naturally, due to compounding factors in Murphy's law working against my computer and for the bread: it fell Jam Side Down. You can imagine my grief, to see my snazzy Mac laptop featuring sticky orange goo. You can also imagine my relief that it missed all essential bits and landed square on the one empty patch of case. Now it's like it never happened, but perhaps this serves as a warning?

My mom gave me a geeky little keyboard condom the other day... i think I will use it.

I walked by a Donut Shoppe today, it had the funniest sign I've seen in a while. It read:

"Just remember that STRESSED spelled backwards is DESSERTS!"

That really made me laugh! I can't believe I never noticed that before...

So last night I went to a restaurant again, as I typically do a Wednesday night. Last night was different however because it involved a really special dish. We went to a local Indian restaurant that makes really nice food... and my friend ordered a drink on the menu enticingly called "Spicy lemonade." To me that sounds pretty delightful. When I hear that name, I visualize a lovely twist on a Western traditional summer drink. Maybe lemonade with cinnamon, cardamom and mint...

What my friend received in fact resembled none of the above. I don't even know that the drink had much lemon in it. It came out looking like sewer sludge and smelling of garbage juice. It was the most vile thing I ever laid nose on. It was completely brown and opaque, with little floaties in it. He tasted it and instantly made a face and weird corresponding sounds. He offered it to me at which time I took one whiff and promptly wanted to toss my samosas. We passed it around and people made loud groaning noises while attempting to have the balls to drink it. It was actually the highlight of the meal.

I wonder what the chef thought. I think I saw him standing in the corner, chuckling and looking especially amused. I think he was delighted. He said something about medicinal properties... maybe it cures the faint of heart?

My sweetie is watching a reality TV show about a cake baking competition on Food TV Canada. These midwestern ladies are making various cakes that involves things like marshmallows and food colouring. They pronounce the word caramel as "caaarmil". The drama and suspense in the show is provided by some yeast that will not rise. This proves that:

people will watch a show about *anything*
food shows aren't just for hoity toity chefs with massive egos anymore
my sweetie really likes cake.
Personally I think most of these cakes look revolting.
